A Full Range of Scaffolding Services in Enfield | Elco Scaffolding

When you provide as broad a range of scaffolding services as we do here at Elco, it’s important you have all the right materials at hand to construct versatile, safe and secure structures. Our scaffolding erectors are constantly inspecting these materials to ensure that they continue to be up to scratch, as should any scaffolding contractor that you’re going to hire for work in Enfield or its surrounds. On this page, we’ve looked to provide a brief overview of these different elements and how a scaffolding company employs them.

3 What’s Used to Construct Scaffolding?

Scaffolding Tubes - The meat and potatoes employed in all different instances of scaffolding services, these tubes are typically made of aluminum or steel, although composite scaffolding is occasionally employed in specialist projects launched around Enfield (where overhead hanging cables are an unavoidable hazard).

Couplers - There are a few different types of coupler that a scaffolding contractor has in their tool bag: swivel, Putlog and right-angle couplers. Each allows for a different configuration of scaffolding tubes to be joined securely together. They’re the joints in the scaffolding skeleton!

Base Plates - Given the important task of securely holding scaffolding tubes in place, creating the basic structure that’s then built out of. Scaffolding erectors, like our own in Enfield, select them and position them in a way as to deal with any problematic aspects presented by a site/environment, such as uneven ground.

Braces - To provide further load-bearing support, bracers run diagonally between standards and ledgers. Before a design is drawn up, a scaffolding company will consult with the client to ensure the structure will feature enough braces, situated in strategic positions. Depending on the scaffolding services required, the use of more or less braces may be in order.

Decks - Typically constructed with an aluminum frame and plywood board, reinforced with galvanised steel, these are also referred to as planks and make up the surface that scaffolding erectors and anyone working at height will use to move around the structure.
